That’s right! It’s our two year anniversary since our first date. Even though the only celebrating we’re doing tonight is throwing a baby shower for my sister-in-law and brother. I just wanted to say Happy First Date Anniversary to my Joshy!
A few weeks ago someone asked if we had been married for under 2 years because he saw Josh come visit me while I was working at a marketing booth. He said he nailed it, because only people married under 2 years do that sort of stuff. I was a little indignant in my head about that statement. I hope not, I want Josh and I to keep thinking of ways to make each other happy forever. Good goal to work on! Marriage is about serving God and then serving each other and that is what makes a happy marriage. I read a scripture the other day that is generally applied to church meetings, but I thought about marriage: Jesus is speaking.
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, as I said unto my disciples, where two or three are gathered together in my name, as touching one thing, behold, there will I be in the midst of them—even so am I in the midst of you. Fear not to do good, my sons [and daughters], for whatsoever ye sow, that shall ye also reap; therefore, if ye sow good ye shall also reap good for your reward. Therefore, fear not, little flock; do good; let earth and hell combine against you, for if ye are built upon my rock, they cannot prevail…. Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not.Behold the wounds which pierced my side, and also the prints of the nails in my hands and feet; be faithful, keep my commandments, and ye shall inherit the kingdom of heaven. Amen.” Doctrine and Covenants 6:32-37
I know putting God first in a marriage and then each other makes it succeed, whether you have been married 1 year, 5 years, or 40 years.
-Ramblings from a newly wed, BUT, who has seen this formula work! 🙂
