The Gala

I was given tickets to the annual Freedom Festival Gala this year by my work. Josh and I thought it would be fun to go because we used to work at the convention center where the Gala is held every year. It was kind of strange being on the other side of the event and not setting up anything. We ran into our old friend Maylene (who basically set us up and helped me cope with my irrational dating fears) and who works at the convention center. We were able to catch up a bit with her before the event started. We both visited with some former co-workers. Ah, memory lane. As we sat down and started listening to the program, Josh leaned over and asked if I wanted to leave and go Bruges Waffles and Frites down the street. I was a little surprised. Josh and I are pretty casual people and going to special events such as this Gala are fine, but if there is something better to do, we will choose that. I agreed and we both stood up and hurried out of the room. Maylene looked at us like we were crazy and asked us where we were going. We told her we were going to get some food. We had saved our cheat meal for the Gala and since we both knew the food at the convention center really well, we didn’t think it would be much of a cheat meal. It was really fun and spontaneous. Josh and I have so much fun together. We went to dinner at a little sandwich shop in our our fancy, dressed up clothes. The food was delicious and well worth our time and our cheat meal. 😉
