Goodbye 2017, You Spoiled Us

I realize this post is very late. Life has changed a lot for us in the past 6 months, since I wrote the last Decker update. We’ve had some amazing things happen and some of the highlights include: we moved into our first home; we celebrated our 3rd anniversary, we adopted a polar bear (actually a half Pyrenees/Australian shepherd mix huge dog), named Sadie; and we found out we’re expecting our first baby, baby girl in July 2018; and we had a good holiday season!

I had some technical (probably user error) difficulties uploading the pictures so they are pretty scattered time wise, but bear with me, I’ll explain all of them.

Josh and I attended our first Utes football game with box seats. It was pretty spiffy. We have been trying to work out a partnership with Utah for work so we were testing the waters. I personally am against anything Utah but…sometimes you have to do hard things for work. Go BYU!!
In our last few months living in Provo, Josh and I started going to Utah Lake State Park on Sunday mornings for walks and he was teaching me some photography tricks. Here is one of our pictures. It is beautiful in the fall.
Meet Sadie! Our polar bear/dog. We adopted her from a girl who was moving back East and couldn’t take her with her. Since we moved to a home we could have a dog and so we got a dog for Josh’s Christmas present. She’s a sweet and super stubborn puppy, but we love her. Josh and her buddies.
See what I mean by scattered, this is a picture of us in our box seats at the Utah football game. I titled it “The upside down world”- Stranger Things reference. We also finished season 2 of Stranger Things. I liked that way better than Season 1.
Our annual Christmas card. Merry Christmas from the Deckers!
Josh and Sadie getting to know each other. It’s so cute to watch them. Josh is so happy having a dog.
Random Christmas photo of Joseph and Quincy. I took photos of everyone as we were opening our presents and having our Christmas program.
This made me smile. Shortly after we moved into our new home, the firemen drove our new community and gave out treats to children. They also had Santa on top waving and saying hello to everyone. Super cute!
This is Cindy Lou Who, I mean Kendra. Joseph and Quincy dressed her up really cute for Christmas and she is being held by my dad. while everyone opens presents. so cute!!
My sister, Stefi, loves, I mean hates, having her picture taken. So I tried to get a picture of her during all the Christmas festivities.
Another cute picture of Kendra and Oompa.

We had our annual gingerbread competition. Josh and I decided to make a snoopy house in honor of just getting a white puppy.
Joseph and Quincy made candy land. Super creative.
Josh’s grandparents came to visit during Christmas. This is a picture of some of the festivities. It was kind of crazy day. I was pretty sick with morning sickness and I threw up a really delicious prime rib dinner. TMI.
An aerial view of our Snoopy gingerbread house.
My mom watching all the Christmas magic.
And Stefi won the gingerbread competition this year. This is Mordor from Lord of the Rings. She did a pretty impressive job.
A close up of Frodo in lava at Mordor. Nice job Stefi!!
Opening presents at the Deckers.
More opening present fun at the Deckers.
I was having a pretty rough day and Josh took me out to dinner at a new restaurant in Orem called Midici’s. They had the best black cherry, ricotta, nutella calzone ever! Josh was amazed at how much my mood changed :).
I had to share a picture of this handsome man. This was one of the photos we took at Utah Lake, during my photography lesson.
More Utah Lake photos. It was just so pretty this fall, I’m sharing most of them.
Utah Lake selfie
Another handsome photo of my Joshy at Utah Lake
We decided to have a rock throwing contest on a few of our walks and I totally out threw Josh, well not really but it was fun to play.

I really liked this shot of Utah lake in October.
Some work fun. I was trying out some lenses on my camera at work and Eli so graciously posed for me. He’s single ladies! I’d be happy to connect you πŸ™‚
I thought this was a pretty shot with a storm coming in over Utah lake.
Back to work fun photo lenses testing. I love my Joshy!
This is Zach, sorry ladies, he’s already taken.
And this is part of the town where we live now, Stansbury Park, Utah. It is such a beautiful area and we love it!
Welcome to our first home! We love it so much! It was a miracle how it all worked out. At the beginning of 2017, we never expected to be moving from our apartment in Provo. We had a bunch of unexpected expenses and we made a tight budget for ourselves. In September, while I was at work, the mission president for the west Salt Lake mission came to our work to talk to my father-in-law about storing his Airstream trailer. He ended up chatting with Dennis for a while about pros and cons of living in Park City because that was where he raised his family and then he mentioned that he really liked the communities in Tooele county and how it a more rural and open area. I eavesdropped on the conversation and started researching cities in that area. I told Josh about it and he was really excited. He even planned a date night driving out to that area so we could look at the area and some houses. When we went out there, we ran into my old mission companion and family and they took us on a driving tour of Stansbury Park. After that we decided we really liked the area. But we didn’t know the first thing about buying a home. My cousin, Naomi, and I were hanging out and she told me about a first time home buying class she was going to attend. I got really excited and Josh and I decided to take the class together. It was a super informative class and really helped us as began the home buying process. My mission companion recommended her realtor and after the first time looking at homes we found the home we wanted. She made an offer and it was kind of scary because we were competing with some other offers. The owners accepted our offer the second week of October and we moved in a month later. It was amazing how everything fell into place. and a huge blessing from heaven.
Stansbury Park Lake- pretty area!
The Browns came to visit during Thanksgiving. It was SO awesome! I loved being everyone that week. We took extended family pictures and this was cute picture I got of my nephew Davy.
Here is my cute sister and cute niece as we’re getting ready for family pictures.
We celebrated Davy’s 6th birthday and he was super excited to open all his presents.
The Browns have a cool tradition in their family that the sibling gets one present on the other siblings’ birthday. Davy seemed pretty enamored with Ashlyn’s present.
We all like thrift stores and so we went DI with the Browns. Josh and Davy and some fun Jedi action fights.
The battle is on!
Sword check.
Josh was having fun too. SO cute!
We visited the Salt Lake temple with my family to see the Christmas lights. Yep, that is Josh with no coat. He has a crazy internal oven.
Ahhh, Christmas lights πŸ™‚
Mommy/daughter selfie seeing the Christmas lights.
Going back to Midici’s restaurant in Orem. The happy nutella calzone place. This inspired Josh to make his best cheesecake ever, which was black cherry, ricotta, and nutella cheesecake. He is going to make it for my birthday again!!!

In October we took part in the Warren Miller film world premier in Salt Lake City. They featured a Basecamp in the movie and so we brought some information about our dealership to the premier. I designed this banner, which of course, looked better in person :).
The Airstream basecamp parked outside of Abravanel Hall during the Warren Miller premier.
Random photo of I-15 traffic, but we had been commuting from Provo to Salt Lake since we started at the Airstream dealership. It was a gruesome drive and took almost hour sometimes a lot longer each day. This was one of the last times we had to drive it to Provo before we moved. We love our commute now! Crazy enough, we were in a fender bender on I-15 on our way to meet Sadie our dog at the end of November. We were rear ended by a under cover policeman. Kind of ironic. Fortunately, after a few visits to the chiropractor we’re good as new and our new truck, Harry, suffered very little damage. We can’t say the same thing for the policeman’s car. #nodistracteddriving #!!!
We had a date night with Joseph and Quincy to decorate pumpkins. Can you guess who’s is who?
Yes, this is my pumpkin, and yes Airstream is what I think about a lot.
A few more Utah Lake walk pictures, this was just right outside the park.

I loved this one of the mountains.
This is a picture of our apartment in Provo. We lived in it since we first got married, 3 years. We had amazing good times at that place and we’re excited for the new adventures in our new home.
We had extended family pictures with the Deckers in October. It was family photo season. We’ll have to do it next year with our little girl and our new puppy.
No we didn’t damage the tree, just took advantage of previous damage. It was fun because it was like doing an engagement session again. Our photographer was great.
This was fun. Josh worked on our Halloween costumes since May and was able to finish them for our church Halloween party. He did AMAZING. We even won 1st place for best adult costume. πŸ™‚ Joshy is SO talented.
Goofy Star Wars posing.
Serious pilot!
We had a lot of fun in these costumes and a lot of compliments. I was so proud of Josh.
Josh’s mom celebrated her 50th birthday. We celebrated by having a girl’s witches night out at Gardner’s village. It was super fun.
Crazy witch dancing at Gardner’s village.
Josh and celebrated the end of baseball season by going to Buffalo Wild Wings and watching one of the series game. It’s so fun to hang out with him and I’m glad the Astros won. Go underdogs!
I couldn’t get any finished digital photos of the Mohrman extended family photos but this was one of the test pictures. Love family!
We’re super excited and nervous to announce Baby girl Decker coming to join us July 2018! Happy end of 2017!

September Morn

I am one of those people who was born in the wrong era for music. Being the oldest child in my family I tend to live in the past with my music preferences and listen to the stuff my parents listened to when they were growing up. I’m not ashamed about, just explaining my vague Neil Diamond reference title. πŸ˜‰

Just like June, July, and August, summer flew by. I love the warm weather. It also happens to be the busiest time in the RV industry, for obvious reasons. I was looking through my pictures on my phone and noticed that most of my pictures this summer are of Airstream trailers. Part of my responsibilities at work is managing the online posting of inventory and so my phone is chalk-full of trailer pictures. I’ve included a snapshot of my google photos for proof. πŸ™‚

Trailers, trailers, and more trailers
One of the biggest events of September was that Josh and I bought a truck. We traded in our little GTI for this big old F-150. We were able to get a really good deal because it was slightly used. We decided to name the truck, Harry, Harry the Ford. In honor of one of Josh’s favorite toughest actors, Harrison Ford. ;). We love having an automatic vehicle because we travel I-15 every day and that is pretty tough on a little manual hatch back. We love our new member of the family and hope to keep him for a LONG time. πŸ™‚
Just a little taste of our general I-15 commute 😦 #stopandgo
Josh has been super excited about buying a new truck so he can tinker and install little additions. My own MacGyver (another blast from the past reference :)). He is SO sweet and so far has installed running boards, a foot stool, and seating heaters all because his wife is short and gets cold easy. I once tried to get in the truck with a pencil skirt and I felt like I was doing a gymnastics trick. My neighbors were watching me at the time and were trying not to laugh. I would have totally laughed at myself. Fortunately, no more embarrassing short people problems because we have running boards. Josh was excited to install the seat heaters and spent 8 hours in the rain one Saturday installing them. Unfortunately, the truck blew a fuse and Josh couldn’t get it to restart or the engine to turn over only 1 week after we bought it. He was up most of the night worrying about it but we said a prayer that night and the next morning and Josh worked on it for a few hours and was able to call one of cub scout’s dads’ who is a mechanic to help him fix it. Josh fixed the truck that afternoon and a few days later got the seat heaters to work as well. He’s amazing! #Blessings
Josh and I were able to hang out with his grandparents, Pat and Dennis. It was a lot of fun and we visited Hill Air Force Base and my mom’s old eating ground Burger Bar in Roy. Marriage is super nice because you get extra family!
More details to come, but I had to include a picture of my cousin, Naomi and me. We had a girls night and visited the Provo temple just like old times. It was super fun and I love this girl!
We saw one of the last baseball games of the Salt Lake Bees
Baseball is such a slower pace sport so I can take lots of pictures πŸ™‚
Josh has such a cute face!
The game is about to start!
Pretty mountain view from the field.
This is where Josh and I spend a lot of time. It’s been so fun to be able to work with him again!

At the end of September was the semi-annual LDS General Conference. I LOVE those two weekends each year. One of my favorite messages from this last conference was by President Uchtdorf, he titled it “A Yearning for Home.” He said, “The Lord has established The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to help you in this commitment to serve God and fellowmen. Its purpose is to encourage, teach, lift, and inspire. This wonderful Church provides opportunities for you to exercise compassion, reach out to others, and renew and keep sacred covenants. It is designed to bless your life and improve your home, community, and nation. Come, join with us and trust the Lord. Lend your talents to His wonderful work. Reach out, encourage, heal, and support all who desire to feel and heed the yearning for our supernal home. Let us join together in this glorious pilgrimage to heavenly climes. The gospel is a transcendent message of hope, happiness, and joy. It is the pathway that leads us home. As we embrace the gospel in faith and deed, each day and every hour, we will draw a little closer to our God. Our lives will be better, and the Lord will use us in remarkable ways to bless those around us and bring about His eternal purposes.” Such a happy message. The link is in the title and I encourage anyone to read it.

Anyways, over and out! Happy Thursday!

Pueblo, Baseball, and the Browns

My sister, Nikki, inspired me to catch up on our blog because she has recently done her August month post. Gotta keep up with the Browns πŸ˜‰

It has been such a busy summer! Josh and I have been working like crazy BUT we also managed to have some fun as well. Josh and I visited Nikki and her family, the Browns in Colorado at the end of August. We wanted to be able to visit them this year as well as catch a Rockies game and visit the Denver LDS temple. It was so fun to check off another MLB game and visit another temple on our life-long goal of attending a game at every MLB stadium and visiting the nearestΒ LDS temple. Sadly, the Rockies lost but it’s always fun to go to a baseball game. Thanks Mitch and Nikki for coming too! We really appreciated their hospitality. We were able to stay and hang out with them and their 2 super cute kids for a weekend. I think their 3 year old daughter, Ashlyn, has a little crush on Josh. πŸ™‚

Summer Time in Full Swing

Summer sped off shortly after my last post and it has been hard finding time to keep up. I was finally able to upload all our pictures and so I am ready to tell all about our June and July adventures. Enjoy!

I started a NEW job in June. It is so exciting. I am working with the Decker family doing marketing for the Airstream of Utah dealership. Shortly after I started, Dennis and Laura took us all out to eat at an Asian restaurant. It was pretty tasty and they had sushi! Thanks for dinner Dennis and Laura!
My parents bought a Wii and we’ve been having fun playing it at their house. We’ve enjoyed it so much that we have one to play with at home. This is a picture of Stefi taking archery very seriously, because she’s actually really good at it.
Ah Stefi again…my brother and sister-in-law challenged us to another Chopped competition. My mom and sister were the judges and babysitters.

This creation is team Decker. The 4 ingredients we had were jasmine rice, ricotta cheese, Italian sausage, and semolina flour. Joseph and Josh chose the ingredients because it was Father’s Day weekend. We made meatballs with arriabiata sauce, sun dried tomato risotto, and crostinis with herbed ricotta cheese. SO YUMMY!
Joseph, Quincy, and Josh cooking away!
We had some more virtual reality fun with Josh’s grandparents. It is fun watching people try out VR headset. I don’t think they liked it too much.
Grandma Pat trying out the VR. It was a little intense for her πŸ™‚

Snowbird! Airstream had an area to show trailers at the Adventure+Gear Fest at Snowbird. It was such a pretty day, 70 degrees, and tons of people talking and looking at the trailers. It was a good show.
The mountains are gorgeous!
Josh relieved his brother after he got off work at 5, so we were able to show trailers together. So fun!
I love his smile!
My grandpa and his wife Veronica came to visit from Nicaragua. We went to a little Mexican restaurant in downtown Provo. My sister, Stefi wasn’t feeling well and my dad was out of town traveling.
We’ve been working really hard and commuting to Salt Lake City every day. I wanted to go to the gym after work one day and Josh was too exhausted. He works so hard!
We spent one of our Friday night date nights at Salt Lake City Bees baseball game. It was so fun to go to a game. We haven’t had a lot of time this summer to go to games.
Baseball game selfies on our float chairs πŸ™‚
Nothin’ like a summer night baseball game πŸ™‚
One more selfie for fun!
I’ve been wanting Josh to teach me how to take long exposure shots on my new camera phone. We decided to get sparklers for the 4th of July so he could teach me.
Stars and stripes forever.

Happy 4th of July from the Deckers!
Josh decided to wait a month to get a haircut and beard trim. It’s amazing how fast his hair grows AND how his hair changes his appearance so much. (Look at our engagement pictures when he had no beard)
Joshy had a birthday on July 17. He turned 26. Wow! I remember when I was 26 πŸ™‚ We had a 3 day celebration. We went to lunch with my family on a Saturday, and then we had dinner and cake with Josh’s family on Sunday, and then Josh and I went to Tucanos on Monday night. Party, party, party!
I read a blog article by a lady who asked her husband to pick out her outfits for 7 days. I wanted to try this with Josh just to understand his taste better. πŸ™‚ We lasted 2 days because life has been crazy busy! Day 1.
Day 2- It was fun while it lasted πŸ™‚ I don’t think I came to any conclusions about Josh’s taste but he did well πŸ™‚
I’ve been updating the websites at work with our current inventory and I had some photo fun with this 1964 Airstream trailer. On Pioneer Day I planned a BBQ for the Airstream dealership. It turned out really well and we had pretty decent turnout. I REALLY like my job and the best part is being able to work with Joshy!
We’re still doing cub scouts and we’ve still been having fun. We took our scouts to the park to clean up trash and then we got them slurpees. Afterwards, we decided to try out the Provo Food Truck Round-up. It happens every Thursday from 6-9. There were a lot of trucks and a lot of choices. Josh and I both tried different kinds of pizza from different food trucks.

Josh eating his pizza with his cute face!
We started a postcard club at Airstream of Utah as part of our marketing plan. It will be super fun to see people’s adventures throughout the USA.
My sister, Stefi, is going to love this post. She came to visit and play the Wii with us. They are playing Mario Kart and she is taking it pretty seriously πŸ™‚
Josh’s mom, Laura, invited us Decker ladies out to a play at Sundance theater. We saw Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. This is Grandma Pat and me with our twinner glasses πŸ™‚
Our seats and a view of the stage for our tickets. It was super nice of Laura to plan this!
My favorite photo of the evening. It was such a fun evening, poor Grandma Pat got sick and we had to leave a little bit early. But we were able to have a Sundance emergency vehicle take us to our car πŸ™‚
This sight just tickled my funny bone. Josh has been organizing his tool room and he finally admitted to me that he is a box hoarder. Something he has denied before. He finally decided to get rid of these. Hallelujah. πŸ™‚

I am pretty obsessed with my little niece Kendra Fae. The following pictures will clearly explain. We had her 1st birthday party recently and I went crazy-aunt picture crazy. The party was so cute and her mom did a great job planning it. Thanks for the invite Joseph and Quincy! Happy Birthday Kendra Fae!

My mamita and Kendra with Stefi avoiding the camera as usual.

Joseph making Kendra laugh πŸ™‚
She’s not quite sure what to do with her presents. It was cute watching her unwrap them with her dad.

Kendra was eating her cake very dainty-ly. And my brother thought it was boring so he, not being very nice, smashed some cake in Kendra’s face. She didn’t like that too much.

I just love this little munchkin, I love Joshy, and I love summer time!

Just Another Day [Week] in Paradise

One of my favorite country songs is called, “Just Another Day in Paradise” by Phil Vassar. Josh doesn’t care much for country music, but we’re working on it. πŸ™‚

“The kids screaming, phone ringing
Dog barking at the mailman bringing
That stack of bills, overdue
Good morning baby, how are you?
Got a half hour, quick shower
Take a drink of milk but the milk’s gone sour
My funny face makes you laugh
Twist the top on and I put it back
There goes the washing machine
Baby, don’t kick it.
I promise I’ll fix it
Long about a million other things

Well, it’s ok. It’s so nice
It’s just another day in paradise
Well, there’s no place that
I’d rather be
Well, it’s two hearts
And one dream
I wouldn’t trade it for anything
And I ask the lord every night
For just another day in paradise

Friday, you’re late
Guess we’ll never make our dinner date
At the restaurant you start to cry
Baby, we’ll just improvise
Well, plan be looks like
Dominoes’ pizza in the candle light
Then we’ll tippy toe to our room
Make a little love that’s overdue
But somebody had a bad dream
Mama and daddy
Can me and my teddy
Come in to sleep in between?

Yeah it’s ok. It’s so nice.
It’s just another day in paradise.
Well, there’s no place that
I’d rather be
Well, it’s two hearts
And one dream
I wouldn’t trade it for anything
And I ask the lord every night
For just another day in paradise”

-Phil Vassar

Even though Josh and I don’t have any kids yet, I feel like this is a good theme song for the regular day-to-day life. We have been pretty busy but life’s been pretty normal…and it’s been really good.

Last weekend, Josh and I cleaned up a bit and got haircuts by our super talented friend Delenna. I originally scheduled just me but we both talked Josh into getting his haircut then, because he was getting a little bushy. He looks SO good. πŸ™‚ Josh and I have a lot of fun with Delenna and her husband Brandon and her two cute munchkins. Josh and Brandon have really similar interests and Delenna and I are buddies from high school so we all get along great. πŸ™‚

Delenna and me. PC: Brandon or Josh- I cant remember πŸ™‚

We had another emergency trip to Instacare because Josh really is allergic to the heat, kind of. He has always claimed he was allergic to the heat and I would roll my eyes. But a bunch of red bumps appeared all over his back and they spread to his chest and arms. He has had shingles before, so we were worried he was getting another case of shingles. The doctor told him it was either a heat rash or folicalitis (never even heard of that one before, both caused by heat). Fortunately, it’s not serious and will go away.

Poor Joshy! I made the picture small so you could quickly skip over it if you wanted. πŸ™‚

Josh has also been working on a new Star Wars costume. It will be pretty epic. After he finishes this one, he will start working on mine so we can be matching characters for Halloween and for the opening day of Star Wars 8 (I can’t believe I’m planning on doing that…:)) #bignerds

Guess who? #xwingpilot
So cute!

We celebrated my sister-in-law, Quincy’s, birthday at Olive Garden. It was so yummy and so good to be with family and a super cute niece. Birthday celebrations are always fun.

Olive Garden birthday fun- I know I’m pretty crazy about taking pictures…Happy Birthday Quincy!
Olive Garden selfie- The waitress forgot to take a group picture so I thought this would be easier.

That same day I had my farewell lunch at Squire. We went to P.F. Changs. It was really good, but the amazing part was at the end of the meal when I received my fortune cookie. It said, “A new business partner will soon emerge.” Next Tuesday I start my new job and I’m very excited!Β The Chinese know what they are talking about. πŸ™‚

It’s crazy how accurate these things are πŸ˜‰ (Josh, Jackson)

I have also been putting my graphic design skills to work for our Cub Scout group. We’re working on an Art merit badge. Last week we asked them to draw a design on a paper to make an iron-on for a t-shirt. I interpreted their drawings to make the following…they seemed to like them.

One scout just wanted his shirt to say, “I am super lazy” so I did it and then added the last sentence. hehe.

This was my favorite design. This scout did not come last week so I asked his mom what were his hobbies. She told me soccer and video games. I did a little retro soccer design. πŸ™‚ The ink was a little funky printing in the middle, but original design was pretty cool. I think I was a little too creative, he is way to young to understand retro video games. Haha.

We brought fabric markers for them to add to their shirts, if they wanted.
A little Frisbee at the end of the the activity

Bye Bye May!

May has come to end. It’s amazing how time has flown this month…like most months. Overall, May has been very good to us and we’ve had lots of adventures. I just posted about about our trip to Jackson we took at the beginning of the month. That was amazing. I can’t say I recommend it because I don’t want the beautiful little town to get even more crowded :D.

We celebrated my sister, Stefi’s birthday when we got back from our trip and went to eat at Hu Hot. She loves her Asian food. Happy Birthday Stefi! A few days after we returned home, Josh got sick and not just sick but strep throat. 😦 He was pretty incapacitated for a little over a week. Fortunately, I didn’t get strep. He did share some of his bug with me, but I am doing much better.

Josh wanted a new phone as an early birthday present because his battery was dying. Our carrier had a really good deal going on and we both ended up getting new phones with really great cameras. That will explain the random pictures in this post. πŸ™‚ We also got a free virtual reality headset with the phones and Josh thought my reaction to it was pretty funny. I think I looked like goofball…I also posted pictures of my family doing it as well a little further down.

It was nice celebrating the wonderful moms and women our life for Mother’s day. We are both blessed with really amazing mothers. We babysat my niece, Kendra Fae, and that was an adventure because she was teething. Before she got ornery, I put little snacks all over the ground and watched her army crawl all over the place to eat them. She loves food! It was hilarious to watch.

Josh and I also picked up my Mom and sister, Stefi, from Colorado and introduced them to an amazing Italian pizza place in Salt Lake City, Settebello PizzeriaΒ where we had pizza, canolis, and gelato! Oh so yummy.

Also in the Decker news, I gave my notice to my current employer after 2 years and I am going to joining the Airstream of Utah team. Thank you Dennis and Laura! I’m going to be the Marketing Manager. Even better, I get to work with Joshy again. I’m really excited about this new opportunity!

From Squire to Airstream. Thank you both for being so good to us!

Josh and I finally felt well enough to have a date night! We tried a new restaurant by our house in Provo called Cafe on Fire, they serve Persian Kabobs. Really interesting…and pretty tasty. My favorite was the steak. After dinner, we walked to a really good ice cream place called Roll With It. They make the ice cream combo you want right in front of you and then roll the ice cream up and put whatever toppings you want. It is pretty unique and SO yummy.

Josh and I decided to take our virtual reality (VR) toy to both of our families and watch them experience it. It is pretty trippy. In general, Josh’s family had better reactions, especially his parents. They were pretty jumpy. πŸ™‚ Sadly, I didn’t take any photos. My family was pretty calm but Joseph gave us the best show and took off the goggles part way through because he was scared of the roller coaster. Thanks for the entertainment Joseph! πŸ™‚ I took pictures of my family doing it because I thought we would get pretty good pictures after doing this with Josh’s family.

Stefi doing VR- It didn’t even phase her.
Mamita doing VR- She got a little nervous, but she was tough
Joseph doing VR- Funny kid
Quincy doing VR- She was braver than Joseph
Dad doing VR- Just chillin’
Kendra just watching everyone do it.
I had to plug in a couple of Kendra Fae pictures from that visit too!- Love that cute little face!
Little Schroeder (ina)

Memorial day weekend was really relaxing and productive. I’m so grateful for all those who served in our military and have protected our freedoms.

We have been still getting over a little sickness but it was fun to have 3 day break. We also celebrated Memorial day in the morning with my parents and had breakfast at Cracker Barrel. I felt like it was a very American thing to do. I think it would be fun to do that in the future. On Sunday, the day before Memorial Day, Josh ran into an old missionary friend and his wife. We invited them over for our BBQ the next day. We cooked ribs, baked beans and bacon, and garlic mashed potatoes and then we had root beer floats for dessert. SO YUMMY! It was fun to hear more about Josh’s LDS mission in New York.

Memorial day ribs!
Memorial day spread
Ribs and us- Also side note and cool feature about our phones is that you can talk to the camera to take a picture, no button required. Super cool!
Rib selfie again

And that’s a wrap!

Goin’ to Jackson, Wyoming in My Mind (And in Real Life)

If any of you are James Taylor’s music fans you should get this post’s title reference. If not, you should become a James Taylor music fan. πŸ™‚

My sweet Joshy spoiled me for my 30th birthday and took me on a super fun getaway to Jackson, WY. If you remember, Josh and I went to Jackson for our honeymoon. We have been back visitng twice to Jackson since our honeymoon but we were just passing through to go onto Yellowstone or on our way homeΒ from Idaho.

On my birthday, well actually 2 days before (Josh has a hard time with surprises sometimes πŸ™‚ ) He gave me a decorated envelope with pictures and a travel agenda inside. He wanted me to be able to open a present on my birthday. The trip was planned for the first week of May, after tax season. Crazy time. It was so sweet of him to plan this amazing trip. Buckle your seats and prepare for picture overload… πŸ™‚

A day before we left on our adventure to Jackson, we ate at PF Changs with a birthday gift card I received. They gave us 3 fortunes and we each opened our own fortune and then said the third one was for both of us. This was the fortune, it’s amazing how accurate these things are πŸ˜‰
Josh and I starting our adventure!
Our first stop was Afton Wyoming where we stayed the night. We both wanted to see the new LDS temple. It is beautiful!
When we arrived in Afton, we walked around the temple grounds and I was picture happy. It’s such a beautiful place!

The next morning we visited the temple and did some sealings. We were the only ones there for the first little bit. It wasn’t very busy because it was a Thursday morning so the Temple president gave us a tour of the temple. It was neat!
Star Valley Temple- It’s only been open for 6 months

This is the cabin that Josh rented for us in Jackson. It was SO cute! We loved it! In the evenings we would just sit outside and enjoy the mountain air and read our book together. So relaxing!
As Josh was planning our trip he had planned to take us to Yellowstone again because it is an amazing place. Some of the entrances were open but the southern entrance wasn’t open so we decided to spend our time in the Grand Teton National Park and Jackson. This was still amazing. Welcome to Jackson lake.
Josh is so cute!
Despite all the snow and the lakes being frozen, the weather was beautiful and about 60 degrees. By the afternoon, I had to change in to short sleeve shirts.
Grand Teton National Park
We explored downtown Jackson and did a little window shopping for when we make our millions of dollars πŸ˜‰
Jackson Town Square- A nice Asian lady took this picture for us, she looked scared to death to take the picture for us but it turned out well πŸ™‚

Josh was looking forward to eating his buffalo burger the whole trip and we finally found a place for him to eat one. It’s called American Sidewinders and it was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. The food was really good. I ordered Cowboy Mac & Cheese.
This delicious dish was featured on Diners, Drive ins, and Dives at the American Sidewinder. It is called the sidewinder and a mozzarella bread stick. SO GOOD! I didn’t get a picture but we also ate at our favorite pizza place in Jackson, Pinky Gs. It was also featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Our Ann Froman pizza was inspired by their Abe Froman pizza πŸ™‚
More Tetons
We tried to hike up to some waterfalls but there was so much snow and construction we couldn’t make it. So we just walked around and explored πŸ™‚ It was so pretty!
We decided to rent bikes on Saturday and have a picnic and bike along the bottom of the Tetons. The weather was perfect. We saw a buffalo, a coyote, and some hawks and ravens. We biked 26.5 miles. It was quite the bike ride but it was amazing!
It was pretty overcast and raining in parts of the valley but we got pretty sunburned. Fortunately it was our second to last day.
Dinner in Jackson- There are some amazing food places in Jackson. #foodieheaven

You can imagine this was us riding along bike trail, it wasn’t, but they appeared in my Teton shot…

It’s amazing how deep the snow and also how warm the weather
We ate a really good taco place. Josh ordered BBQ brisket tacos and I ordered yellow tuna tacos. They were really unique but delicious.
This was one of our favorite finds. We both have a huckleberry fettish and we decided to try some huckleberry lemonade. We both loved so we went to the grocery store after and bought one for each of family members and a few for our selves πŸ™‚ #welovehuckleberry

Airstream of Utah Grand Opening

Josh’s family just opened the Airstream of Utah in Salt Lake City these past few months and they had the grand opening on April 28 and 29. I was flattered they asked me to plan the event, but I only had a week and a half to pull it off. It was a little stressful, but Josh helped me out so much! He’s my favorite planning committee. It turned out to be a success and it was a lot of fun to see it unfold. *Marketing plug* πŸ˜€ If you’re interested in purchasing an Airstream trailer please visit Airstream of Utah at 2651 South 600 West South Salt Lake City. Website:

We were taking selfies at the grand opening but I thought this was a good picture to start off with the short deadline to make it happen! πŸ™‚
My sweet little sister helped a ton and managed the golf putting game! Thank you Stefi! She hates getting her picture taken.

Laura cutting the amazing cake. It was a cake in the shape of an Airstream trailer.

Ribbon cutting ceremony! So neat!

If you ever need a custom 3D cake made Alysha’s Cravings does an AWESOME Job. There were even tail lights on the back of the camper that turned on and off πŸ™‚
Another view of the cake with the S’mores cupcakes in the background. There were really yummy treats!

April Hath Put the Spirit of Youth into Everything

To quote William Shakespeare, “April hath put the spirit of youth into everything.” April has always been one of my favorite months because I love the spring time and sunshine and…I was also born in April. Even though this year I wasn’t too thrilled about that fact, because I turned the big 3-0…Fortunately, my husband, family, and friends showed me how much they loved me even though I became an old lady… πŸ˜‰

Josh and I decorated our letter “D’ outside our door. It’s very festive of spring and baseball, 2 seasonal musts!
Josh and I went to Settebello’s in Salt Lake City for my birthday. It is an Italian wood fired pizza place and it was delicious!!! We splurged and even ordered cannolis.
Josh’s pizza at Settebello Pizzeria
My pizza, I wanted to capture every moment of this delicious food and this super fun date with my Joshy.
Movie night with the Deckers- Watchin’ Rogue One. They also celebrated my birthday with yummy pizza also. Later that week, my family took us out to Happy Sumo so I could get my other favorite food, sushi for my birthday. That was an adventure, Kendra Fae knocked over the water glass and soaked Josh and me. Fortunately, the sushi and company made it better.
My work softball league started and Josh played (I have been out with tendonitis in my arm). #slugger
Getting ready to bat
Freezing my butt off and getting ready to coach bases because I couldn’t play with my arm injury.
The Browns came to visit (briefly) *happy/sad face* We met up with Brigham City because they were attending Mitch’s brother’s wedding. It was so fun to see them!!
Davy trying to hold Kendra! So cute!

Josh and I got free Jazz game tickets from my work. We rode the train up to the Salt Lake after work. It was a really fun game and the Jazz won! It was also Josh’s first NBA game he’s been to. Love those first times!
Outside Vivint Arena and waiting for the train

Our really awesome nose bleed seats!
Go Jazz!
The lighting was terrible, but you get the gist. Fun game!

Wrapping Up March

The past few months have been pretty crazy and I haven’t done a good job keeping on the blog. Fortunately, I always take pictures so it is easier to come back and write about what has happened. The next few posts will be our stories in pictures. Enjoy!

This is our niece Kendra Fae. She is the cutest little chubby girl. Josh and I sometimes babysit her and we took her grocery shopping with us one of those times.
Another Kendra Fae picture, I am pretty obsessed. She is really a chill and relaxed little girl, I’m just feeding her while she’s playing with her measuring spoons.
I get obsessed over Kendra Fae and Josh gets obsessed over his brother’s puppy, Chief. Josh loves to play with the little (well not so little anymore) guy. It’s funny because I am a little hands offish about Chief and Josh is hand offish about Kendra Fae. πŸ™‚ I guess when we have kids we’ll have to get a dog as well.Β
Josh bought us couch covers for our couches. They were in pretty sad shape. They look so much better!!
I finished another doodle. I called this Urban Springtime. It’s a painted city wall with hints of mountain spring. Sigh…we love the wide open spaces.
Eli (Josh’s brother) had a birthday and turned the big 20. He’s showing his age well in this photo and having a burning match contest with is mom and Joshy seeing who can let the match burn the longest before it gets too hot for your fingers. #boys
One of Josh’s famous calzones. We made calzones for LDS Women’s conference. My mom and sister came over to watch the conference and eat this yummy food!
The only picture I could get of my sister Stefi during the women’s conference meeting. πŸ™‚
The 3 girls watching the LDS women’s conference together πŸ™‚ Stefi is really there…
Josh and I like to go treasure hunting at thrift stores. After we find treasures we disinfect them. Josh is disinfecting some books and games we found. πŸ™‚
Josh and I had a stay-in date night. We made amazing pizzas!
BBQ Chicken & Ricotta
Sausage, Basil, Balsamic vinegar

My work had a mid-tax season bowling lunch party. I went with my brother and I bowled a turkey!!!! First time ever!
Here’s my brother, the turkey, who I ALMOST beat with my turkey…Sigh….
